Police search for 38-year-old suspect following weapons seizure in Larnaca

Cypriot authorities are currently searching for 38-year-old Charalambos Antoniou from Oroklini in connection with the illegal possession of firearms and explosives. The investigation began on July 15, 2026, following a police operation at a residence in Larnaca where the suspect allegedly hid the cache. During the search, officers discovered two automatic weapons, identified as a G3 rifle and a Czech-made rifle similar to a Kalashnikov, along with a German pistol and various cartridges. The items have been sent for ballistic and forensic analysis to determine if they were involved in past criminal acts. Investigators are also reviewing security footage and conducting DNA tests as part of their efforts to locate the suspect. Antoniou is known to police from previous criminal cases.
