Police seize weapons cache in Larnaca and search for suspect
On the afternoon of July 15, 2026, Cypriot police conducted a search under a judicial warrant at a residence in Larnaca following an intelligence analysis. During the operation, officers discovered and seized two automatic firearms and a pistol, along with various calibers of ammunition. Media reports identified the automatic weapons as a G3 rifle and a Czech-made firearm resembling a Kalashnikov, while the pistol is of German manufacture. The seized items have been sent for forensic and ballistic testing to determine if they were used in past criminal activities. Authorities are currently searching for a 38-year-old Greek-Cypriot man who is known to law enforcement. Local reports suggest the residence belongs to the suspect's grandmother, where he reportedly resides periodically. The investigation is being handled by the Larnaca Criminal Investigation Department (TAE) as part of an ongoing effort to combat organized crime.
