Cyprus government cabinet reshuffle preparations and negotiations with DIKO

The government has confirmed that Minister of Agriculture Maria Panayiotou will step down in September to accept a role in public education. Reports indicate potential changes involving the Minister of Transport, the Deputy Minister of Tourism, and the Deputy Minister of Culture. Negotiations between President Christodoulides and the DIKO party are ongoing, with DIKO requesting increased representation to support government bills in parliament. While some sources claim DIKO is demanding control of the Ministries of Finance and Interior, DIKO secretary George Solomou officially denied these reports, stating no red lines were set. The President reportedly plans to grant DIKO one additional ministry and two deputy ministries, while maintaining current leadership at the Finance and Interior ministries.
