Lakatamia municipality opens cooling centers during heatwaves

The Lakatamia municipality has announced the operation of three designated cooling centers for residents to utilize during extreme heatwave conditions. These facilities are located at the Lakatamia Multipurpose Center at 48 Aigaiou Street (22443747), open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Additionally, the Tseri Multipurpose Senior Services Center at 10 Bouboulinas Street (22372850) will be available from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on weekdays. The Lakatamia town hall café at 11 1st April Street (22364000) is the third location, operating from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on weekdays. These measures are being implemented in response to recent high temperatures in Cyprus, including a yellow weather warning with predictions of 40C heat inland. The centers will remain accessible to the public whenever official heatwave conditions are in effect.
