Geroskipou municipal beaches receive excellent water quality classification

On July 16, 2026, the Geroskipou municipality announced that laboratory tests confirmed the water quality at its three Blue Flag beaches is excellent. The testing was conducted by the Cyprus Marine Environment Protection Association (CYMEPA). The locations analyzed include the Municipal Beach, the former Cyprus Tourism Organisation municipal beach, and Pachyammos 2 beach situated in front of the Ledra hotel. This evaluation aligns with Cyprus's broader environmental achievements, as the country recently saw 56 beaches and two marinas receive the Blue Flag status for 2026. Agriculture Minister Maria Panayiotou noted that the island has ranked first in Europe for bathing water quality in the European Commission’s last three evaluations. The municipality stated that these results reflect the rigorous international standards maintained at these sites. These findings reinforce Cyprus's standing as a leading destination for clean bathing water in Europe.
