Archbishop Georgios of Cyprus to visit Rome for potential papal invitation discussions

Archbishop Georgios of Cyprus is scheduled to visit Rome in the third ten days of October. He accepted an invitation from local universities to speak at an event, which he received approximately two months ago. During this visit, the Archbishop plans to meet with Pope Francis to discuss a potential visit by the Pontiff to Cyprus and Paphos. While previous invitations had been extended by both Archbishop Georgios and his predecessor, the late Archbishop Chrysostomos, the process had been stalled due to objections from the former Metropolitan of Paphos, Tychikos. The initiative has been revived following the installation of the new Metropolitan of Paphos, Gregorios. The arrival of the Pope is now considered likely, pending scheduling and official coordination between the Vatican and the Archbishopric. Additionally, Archbishop Georgios noted his upcoming service at the newly constructed Church of Saint Photios in the Paphos district.
