Man arrested after attacking female bus driver in Limassol
On Thursday, July 16, a man attacked a female driver operating an EMEL bus on Christaki Kranou Street in Germasogeia, Limassol. According to reports, the assailant had been waiting at a bus stop and assaulted the driver shortly after boarding. EMEL press spokesperson Petros Theocharides stated that the man appeared to be under the influence of drugs during the incident. Passengers and a driver from another EMEL bus passing in the opposite direction intervened and restrained the attacker until police arrived. The suspect was taken into custody by local authorities. The bus driver was not hospitalized following the assault. Both the driver and a passenger who witnessed the event went to the Germasogeia Police Station to provide statements. Police are continuing their investigation into the exact circumstances of the attack.
