Kuwaiti air defenses intercept drones amid regional escalation
On Thursday, the Kuwaiti Armed Forces reported that air defense systems intercepted hostile drones, causing explosions across the country. While the military did not confirm the exact number of drones or the extent of any damage, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs officially held Iran responsible, condemning the incident as an act of aggression. These events occur during a period of heightened regional conflict following U.S. strikes on Iranian targets intended to protect shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. In response, Iran has launched missiles and drones toward U.S. facilities in Bahrain, Jordan, and Kuwait. Separately, Iranian officials accused the United States of conducting a strike near a children's cancer hospital in Ahvaz, which allegedly forced the evacuation of 211 patients. While Iranian military spokesperson Mohammad Akraminia stated that Tehran seeks cooperative relations with neighbors, the current geopolitical situation remains volatile with conflicting narratives regarding the targets and motivations of the recent strikes.
