Omonia signs French striker Lois Diony on a two-year contract
Omonia Nicosia has officially signed 33-year-old French striker Lois Diony on a two-year contract. The forward, who will wear the number 99 jersey, joins the team after a season with Manisa FK in the Turkish second division, where he scored 22 goals in 38 appearances. Throughout his career, Diony has played for several clubs, including Nantes, Dijon, Saint-Etienne, Bristol City, Angers, and Red Star Belgrade, where he won a double and competed in the UEFA Europa League. The transfer process began with medical and physical evaluations in Nicosia before the official announcement was made. The club aims to bolster its offensive line with Diony's experience and physical presence. While some reports suggested he was brought in to replace Ryan Mmaee, the club emphasized his tactical versatility. He is known for his ability to hold the ball under pressure and contribute to build-up play, complementing the team's existing offensive unit.
