Greece and Cyprus pursue joint combat drone project under EU framework
Greece and Cyprus are developing a joint program for the co-production of unmanned combat aerial vehicles (UCAVs) utilizing the European Union's Security Action for Europe (SAFE) funding framework. The initiative seeks to strengthen defense technology cooperation between the two nations. In a related development, the Greek defense company ALTUS-LSA recently completed live-fire tests of its Kerveros UCAV in Chania, Crete. The tests were conducted in partnership with the European firm MBDA and involved the successful firing of Akeron MP anti-tank missiles. The Kerveros system is derived from the heavy-lift ATLAS 8 drone platform. The aircraft's flight systems, electro-optical sensors, and fire control capabilities were verified during these trials. Additionally, the Kerveros system participated in the 'Aisios Oionos 25' and 'Doureios Ippos 26' military exercises to evaluate its operational readiness.
