Meeting regarding the 1996 Isaac and Solomou murder case anniversary

On July 15, 2026, a delegation from the Isaac-Solomou Memorial Initiative met with the President of the Hellenic Parliament, Konstantinos Tasoulas, in Athens. The meeting took place during events marking the 30th anniversary of the August 1996 deaths of Tassos Isaac and Solomos Solomou, who were killed during peaceful anti-occupation protests. The delegation requested the execution of outstanding arrest warrants for the perpetrators. President Tasoulas expressed his appreciation for the motorcyclists' ten-day memorial journey and reaffirmed the Greek state's commitment to memory. He also stated that Greece supports efforts to implement a 2008 European Court of Human Rights ruling concerning the punishment of those responsible for the killings. The meeting was attended by Tasoula Isaac, Anastasia Isaac, and Cypriot Ambassador to Greece, Stavros Avgoustidis. Kyriakos Giagkou, representing the initiative, thanked the Greek state for its support of their activities and their search for justice.
