Trial underway for 18-year-old driver after Redcar hit-and-run

An 18-year-old named Sonny Horsfall is standing trial following a serious collision in Redcar, North Yorkshire, on the evening of April 22. Driving a newly purchased Audi A4, Horsfall lost control of the vehicle and mounted the sidewalk, striking an 84-year-old pedestrian named Eddie. Evidence presented at the trial indicated that the defendant did not have a valid driver's license or insurance at the time of the incident. Surveillance footage and recordings from his own phone showed the defendant driving at high speeds, performing dangerous maneuvers, and ignoring traffic signals. Following the collision, the defendant left the scene without providing assistance to the victim. He subsequently sent audio messages to a friend admitting he may have killed someone while stating he was going to eat pizza. The defendant was observed bragging about his new car shortly before the incident occurred.
