Fatal vehicle crash in northern Peru

A vehicle carrying 19 passengers fell into a ravine in northern Peru on Thursday, July 16, 2026, resulting in the deaths of 14 people and injuries to five others. The accident occurred while the vehicle was traveling toward Ciudad de Dios. Ricardo Chilon, an official from the San Juan municipality, confirmed that the driver and a child were among the deceased. Authorities report that the vehicle was traveling in the area of Cajamarca.
