Cyprus tourism statistics for the first half of 2026

According to the Statistical Service of Cyprus, tourist arrivals decreased by 10.1% during the first half of 2026, totaling 1,656,015 compared to 1,843,013 in the same period of 2025. In June 2026, arrivals reached 489,965, representing a smaller year-on-year decline of 1.7%. The United Kingdom remained the primary market with 161,913 arrivals (33.0%), followed by Israel at 16.4% (80,343), Poland at 7.3% (35,871), Sweden at 5.5% (26,884), and Germany at 4.4% (21,587). The primary travel purpose for 81.6% of visitors was vacations, followed by 11.3% visiting friends or relatives and 7.0% for business. Conversely, travel by Cypriot residents to other countries increased by 7.4% in June 2026, reaching 168,953 trips. The most frequent destination for Cypriot residents was Greece, accounting for 35.3% of outbound travel, followed by the United Kingdom at 8.3%. While some analysis highlights these June figures as a sign of stabilization, the overall downward trend for the first half of the year remains confirmed by official data.
