Drug enforcement operations in Larnaca lead to recent arrests

Cypriot drug enforcement authorities (YKAN) in Larnaca have reported two distinct drug-related cases. In the first case, a 30-year-old man was arrested following the interception of two postal packages containing seven kilograms of cannabis. Subsequent searches at his apartment revealed additional quantities of cannabis and cocaine, drug-use paraphernalia, and a precision scale. In an unrelated second case, a 29-year-old man was extradited from Romania to Cyprus after being wanted for a February 2024 drug case. This individual was apprehended in Romania under a European Arrest Warrant for his involvement in the possession of 3.22 kilograms of cannabis discovered in a vehicle in Larnaca. The Larnaca District Court has ordered the 29-year-old to be held in custody for six days. Regarding the 2024 vehicle case, three other individuals aged 28, 40, and 51 have already been sentenced to prison terms of 5.5, 4, and 7 years respectively. Both ongoing investigations are being conducted by the Larnaca District Unit of the Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN).
