Fourth arrest made in Larnaca drug case following extradition from Romania
A 29-year-old man was arrested in Cyprus after being extradited from Romania based on a European Arrest Warrant. He is linked to a February 1, 2024, incident in Larnaca where police intercepted a vehicle and seized 3.22 kilograms of cannabis. Three other individuals, aged 28, 40, and 51, were previously arrested in connection with the same case and are currently serving prison sentences of 5.5, 4, and 7 years respectively. Following his arrival in Cyprus, the suspect appeared before the Larnaca District Court, which ordered his detention for six days to facilitate the ongoing investigation. The case is being handled by the Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) of Larnaca. While initial reports were brief, local police confirmed the suspect's involvement in the drug supply case. Authorities stated that the investigation remains active as they finalize the legal proceedings against the suspect.
