Cypriot football licensing and APOEL entity update

The Cyprus Football Association (CFA) has concluded the national licensing audit for clubs in the second and third divisions for the 2026/2027 season. Eligible teams have successfully secured their licenses following an assessment of their official dossiers by the CFA committees. Separately, the CFA issued a confidential letter to APOEL Nicosia on July 9, 2026, regarding the transition to a new corporate entity. The federation, acting on behalf of UEFA, confirmed it will initiate licensing procedures for the 'New Co' by waiving the standard three-year rule. The goal is to issue a football license by March 2027 to cover the 2027/2028 season. This process is contingent upon the signing of a commercial agreement between the involved parties and the receipt of a letter of comfort from UEFA. These administrative developments follow ongoing negotiations between APOEL management and the party representing Savvas Liasis.
