For the first half of 2026, total arrivals reached 1,656,015, representing a 10.1% decline compared to the 1,843,013 arrivals in the same period of 2025. Deputy Minister of Tourism Kostas Koumis described the June figures as stable and satisfactory, noting that the sector is recovering from sharp declines in March and April caused by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. The United Kingdom remained the primary market with 161,913 visitors, followed by Israel with 80,343, Poland with 35,871, Sweden with 26,884, and Germany with 21,587. In terms of travel purpose, 81.6% of June visitors arrived for holidays, 11.3% visited friends or relatives, and 7.0% traveled for business. The government plans to continue monitoring market trends and providing targeted support to affected geographical segments as part of its strategy leading into 2027.
