FIFA introduces championship rings for World Cup winners

FIFA announced that the winners of the World Cup final between Spain and Argentina will receive bespoke championship rings for the first time in the tournament's history. The final is scheduled for Sunday, July 19, at the New York New Jersey Stadium. Thirty rings will be awarded to the winning team, with the captain and head coach receiving temporary versions immediately after the match. These rings will later be customized to reflect the identity of the winning team and individually fitted. The designs will feature the World Cup trophy on one side and team-specific details on the other. This initiative marks the adoption of a North American sporting tradition within FIFA competitions. In total, 2,026 individually numbered rings will be produced. The remaining 1,996 pieces will be available for purchase by fans as officially licensed merchandise.
