Investigation into the assassination attempt against Vadym Yermolaiev in Monaco
On June 29-30, an explosion at a residential building in Monaco targeted Ukrainian businessman Vadym Yermolaiev, his partner, and their 13-year-old son. Yermolaiev, who holds a Cypriot passport, claims that active and former officers of Ukraine's Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) were behind the attack. French authorities identified Ukrainian national Anastasia Berezovska as a suspect for planting the explosive device. Berezovska was later found dead near Kyiv, and Ukrainian authorities arrested GUR officer Vladyslav Reut and former law enforcement official Oleksandr Zhykovych in connection with her death. The Ukrainian Prosecutor General, Ruslan Kravchenko, announced that security services recovered surveillance footage of the attack that the suspects had attempted to destroy. Yermolaiev remains in intensive care, describing the incident as an assassination attempt rather than a warning. Investigations by both French and Ukrainian authorities are ongoing to determine the roles of all individuals involved.
