Cyprus sports clubs offer free basketball access to children with cancer
The "Mikroi Iroes" (Small Heroes) Foundation has launched an initiative to provide free basketball access to children undergoing treatment for cancer, as well as their siblings. The project was facilitated by the Cyprus Sports Organization (KOA), which coordinated with national sports federations to support the cause. The Cyprus Basketball Federation responded to the request and mobilized its member clubs to participate. Participating clubs include ETHA Engomi, Keravnos Strovolou, Chalkanoras Idaliou, PAOK Kokkinotrimithias, APOEL in Nicosia, AEK Larnaca, Atlas Pafou, APOP Pafou, Apollon Limassol, AEL Limassol, Enosis Neon Paralimniou, and Anorthosis Famagusta, which is temporarily based in Limassol. The program aims to provide emotional and social support to affected families by offering children a sense of normalcy through sports. This initiative is designed to alleviate some of the social and psychological pressures faced by families dealing with childhood cancer. The Foundation expressed gratitude to both the KOA and the participating basketball clubs for their cooperation.
