President Christodoulides reports developments in the 1996 Isaac-Solomou murder case
Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides stated on Friday that there are ongoing developments regarding the 1996 murders of Tasos Isaac and Solomos Solomou. The two men were killed during demonstrations in the buffer zone near Dherynia in August 1996. During a meeting at the Presidential Palace with a group of motorcyclists from the Isaac-Solomou Memorial Initiative, who recently returned from a trip to Greece, the President asserted that the case remains open. Christodoulides refrained from providing specific public details, stating that it is appropriate to discuss these developments privately with the victims' families rather than in the spotlight. He emphasized that the government is taking necessary actions against those responsible for the deaths. Furthermore, the President highlighted the significance of the motorcyclists' commemorative journey, comparing their dedication to the historical travels of Eoka fighter Evagoras Pallikarides. The initiative has been commemorating the memory of the two men annually since 2008.
