Costas Mavrides challenges NATO deputy secretary general regarding Turkey

During a briefing at the European Parliament's Subcommittee on Security and Defence in Brussels, Cypriot Member of the European Parliament Costas Mavrides addressed NATO Deputy Secretary General Radmila Shekerinska. Mavrides questioned the NATO representative about member states involved in the occupation of European and Syrian territories. He also inquired about alliance members issuing war threats against other NATO allies and challenged the democratic status of certain member states. The MEP specifically alluded to the policies of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. In her response, Shekerinska declined to address the specific allegations made by the MEP. She emphasized that the alliance currently consists of 32 member states and stated that the primary objective is to maintain unity within the organization.
