Cyprus awarded 46 blue flag beaches and two marinas for 2026

As of July 17, 2026, the Cyprus Marine Environment Protection Association (CYMEPA) announced that 46 beaches and two marinas in Cyprus have received the international Blue Flag certification. This environmental distinction, managed by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), is awarded based on strict criteria regarding water quality, safety, environmental management, and sustainable coastal development. Geographically, the awarded beaches are distributed across Famagusta with 27, Paphos with 13, and Larnaca and Limassol with three each. The recognized marinas are Limassol Marina and Ayia Napa Marina. A key requirement of the program is accessibility for people with disabilities, with 25 of the awarded beaches providing specialized infrastructure. Of these accessible beaches, 16 are in Famagusta, four in Paphos, three in Larnaca, and two in Limassol. Additionally, eight of these locations are equipped with the Seatrac system to facilitate independent sea access.
