Cyprus U20 national basketball team shifts to 13th-16th place classification games

Following a 65-47 defeat to the Netherlands in the FIBA U20 EuroBasket 2026 Division B classification round, the Cyprus U20 national team will compete for the 13th to 16th positions. The game against the Netherlands saw Cyprus struggle with rebounding, losing that statistic 65-36, despite forcing 27 turnovers and recording 17 steals. Cyprus finished the group stage with two wins, against Kosovo and Armenia, and three losses. On Saturday, July 18, at 14:30 local time, Cyprus will face Georgia at the EUBA Sports Hall in Bratislava. Georgia entered the classification round after losing 97-62 to North Macedonia. Separately, the men's national team has been drawn against Austria and North Macedonia for the second phase of the FIBA EuroBasket 2029 pre-qualifiers, starting August 27, 2026.
