Municipality of Akamas initiates redevelopment of Pegeia's historic core
The Municipality of Akamas has signed a contract with the architectural firm CE Chrysanthou Architects L.L.C. to develop a masterplan and provide consultancy for the revitalization of the traditional core of Pegeia. The scope of work includes the preparation of technical studies and project supervision to ensure both functional and aesthetic upgrades to the area. Regarding the financial details, reports provide slightly varying figures for the contract value and the total estimated construction cost. One source specifies the contract value at €248,500 plus VAT, while another estimates it at approximately €250,000. Similarly, the total estimated construction cost is reported between €5.3 million and €5.5 million plus VAT. Mayor Marinos Lambrou stated that the project aims to preserve the local architectural identity and cultural heritage while meeting the needs of residents and visitors. This intervention is intended to create a more modern and accessible public space. The project represents a long-term planning effort for the municipal district.
