Police detain suspects in separate theft cases across Cyprus

Cypriot authorities have reported several arrests related to theft and burglary across the districts of Famagusta and Nicosia. In the Famagusta district, a 19-year-old was remanded for eight days following 11 counts of burglary and theft in Ayia Napa committed between June and July 2026. Separately, a 42-year-old man was remanded for three days by the Famagusta District Court for January 2026 incidents involving the theft of copper, plumbing materials, and a vehicle from sites in Protaras and Ayia Napa. Additionally, in the Nicosia district, a 29-year-old man was arrested for three counts of copper cable theft committed at a construction site in Strovolos between July 15 and 17, 2026. The 29-year-old is expected to face court for a detention order. All cases remain under investigation by the relevant district CID units. No objections to the detention requests were reported by the suspects in the Famagusta cases.
