Unauthorized occupation of Larnaca beach area

Residents and bathers have reported that a beach area near the Larnaca Nautical Club has been illegally occupied by trailers, wooden structures, terraces, and improvised toilets. Complaints state that individuals have restricted public access to the coastline by claiming space in front of their units. The site is designated for the future 'Land of Tomorrow' project. Although the Larnaca District Administration, with municipal assistance, cleared the area of trailers two years ago, the illegal structures have reappeared. Larnaca Mayor Andreas Vyras stated that the municipality requested enforcement from the District Administration, which claimed it lacks jurisdiction because the land is privately owned by 12 individuals. Reported issues include public nuisance, littering, and poor sanitary conditions. No current intervention by authorities has been confirmed to address these violations.
