Larnaca regional authority identifies 90 hazardous Turkish Cypriot properties

The Larnaca District Governance Organisation (EOAL) has identified 90 structurally hazardous Turkish Cypriot properties located within the city and district of Larnaca. Most of these structures are currently occupied residential homes. EOAL President Angelos Hadjicharalambous confirmed that the organization has officially notified the Guardian of Turkish Cypriot Properties regarding these findings. A formal letter has been sent to the Turkish Cypriot Property Management Service to verify property ownership and request intervention. These properties are currently under review to determine if they meet the legal criteria to be officially declared hazardous under building safety regulations. The regional authority has urged the Management Service to implement corrective measures as authorized by the 1991 Turkish Cypriot Properties Management Law. EOAL highlighted that urgent coordination is required to mitigate risks to public safety and adjacent properties. The organization is now awaiting a formal response regarding the strategy to address these structural hazards.
