Overview of Cape Greco and Akamas national parks in Cyprus
Cape Greco National Forest Park is situated on the south-eastern coast of Cyprus, between Ayia Napa and Protaras, covering over 380 hectares of protected land. It is characterized by limestone cliffs and native coastal ecosystems, with no commercial hotel developments within its boundaries. Conversely, Akamas National Park occupies the north-western tip of the island, extending from Peyia to Polis Chrysochous. Unlike Cape Greco, Akamas is defined by sparse infrastructure, unpaved roads, and limited public transport. Both areas are protected for their ecological importance, including unique habitats, native plant species, and migratory birds. Akamas is additionally noted for its significant turtle nesting beaches. Visitors are encouraged to prioritize nature-based activities such as hiking, photography, and swimming in both locations.
