Investigation launched following allegations of emergency response delays in Cyprus

Zoi Kalli Miliou has publicly alleged serious negligence by emergency services regarding the death of her father on July 1, 2026. She reports that despite a 112 call and three requests for an ambulance, response was delayed by approximately 30 minutes. Miliou claims that the Nicosia dispatch center failed to notify the Famagusta district ambulance services and attempted to contact her father while he was already unconscious. The patient was eventually transported to a hospital by a relative via a private vehicle, but he passed away before meeting the ambulance crew. Miliou further disputes the official time of death recorded as 13:27 and claims that a previous visit to an emergency department two days prior is missing from medical records. A post-mortem examination indicated sudden death, with further tests pending. The State Health Services Organization (OKYpY), represented by Charalambos Charilaou, has confirmed that an official investigation is underway. This probe will review the incident timeline, call history, and verify if the patient had previously visited a public hospital.
