Ambulance accident in Chania results in one fatality
On Sunday, July 19, 2026, at approximately 07:30, an EKAB ambulance collided with a passenger vehicle on Mournion Avenue in Chania, Greece, just meters from the local hospital. The ambulance was transporting a male patient who was suffering from cardiac arrest; a paramedic was performing CPR on the patient at the time of the impact. The collision caused the ambulance to overturn, necessitating the intervention of the fire department to extricate those inside. The patient died as a result of the cardiac arrest. The driver of the passenger car was a nurse at the Chania Hospital who was finishing her night shift.
