Cypriot government officials address the state of diplomatic efforts for the Cyprus issue

Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, Nikodimos Damianou, and Government Spokesman, Konstantinos Letymbiotis, addressed memorial services this past Sunday to emphasize the government's commitment to resolving the Cyprus issue. Damianou stated that a significant diplomatic effort is currently underway to resume negotiations, aiming for a comprehensive solution based on UN frameworks and EU law. Government Spokesman Letymbiotis identified a new political environment shaped by the UN Secretary-General’s initiative and increased European Union involvement. He highlighted the appointment of a European Commission envoy and the linkage of progress in EU-Turkey relations to the Cyprus problem as key developments. The officials underscored that the ultimate priority for the administration remains the termination of the occupation and the reunification of the country. They noted that the current efforts reflect the Republic of Cyprus's political will and are recognized by the international community. Both representatives called for national unity to effectively pursue these diplomatic objectives.
