Customs authorities in Limassol seize illicit tobacco and goods from Greece
On July 13, 2026, Limassol traffic police stopped a vehicle, but the driver fled the scene and remains at large. During a search of the abandoned vehicle, authorities seized 4 kilograms of hookah tobacco, 37 cartons of cigarettes, and 450 grams of rolling tobacco, all lacking required health warnings and tax markings. On July 15, 2026, customs officers in Limassol inspected a shipping container originating from Greece at a local freight company warehouse. This search resulted in the seizure of 6 bottles containing cannabidiol (CBD) and 119 items suspected of violating intellectual property rights. The Limassol Customs Investigation Department is currently investigating both incidents in cooperation with the police. Authorities are seeking to identify and arrest the suspect involved in the July 13 vehicle evasion case. All seized items are undergoing further examination as part of the ongoing investigations.
