North Dakota hospital sued after DNA test reveals baby swap from 1988

Two men, Kyle Baughn and Jeremy Morrison, have filed a lawsuit against Unity Medical Center in Grafton, North Dakota, after a DNA test revealed they were swapped at birth in 1988. The mix-up was discovered after Baughn used a genealogy platform and connected with a biological relative. The lawsuit states that the two men were the only infants born at the facility on either January 26 or January 28, 1988. For nearly four decades, the men were raised by each other's biological parents. The hospital acknowledged that the infants were indeed separated from their biological families but stated it has found no evidence of staff negligence. The facility cited the passage of nearly 40 years as a reason for the lack of available medical records and the absence of original staff members. Unity Medical Center expressed sympathy for the families but maintains that it cannot verify its responsibility for the historical error.
