Conflicting reports over security at Jordan's Aqaba facilities

The Jordanian government officially denied issuing any evacuation orders for the airport and port of Aqaba on Sunday, contradicting a warning issued by the U.S. Embassy in Amman. U.S. officials had reported that these facilities were cleared due to a specific and credible threat, advising American citizens to avoid the area. In contrast, Jordanian government spokesperson Mohammad al-Momani stated that no potential threats have been detected and that both the airport and port are operating normally. These reports follow heightened regional tensions involving recent Iranian attacks. On Saturday, the U.S. military confirmed that two personnel were killed and another was reported missing in Jordan following an Iranian strike. Additionally, Kuwait reported a fire at a power and desalination plant, attributing the incident to an Iranian attack for the second time in two days. Jordan has also repeatedly reported intercepting Iranian missiles over its territory in the past week.
