Restaurant owner in South Carolina returns found cash to former owner
In April 2025, Sak Yiengjuntuek, the owner of Lemongrass Pho & Thai Cuisine in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, discovered 12,000 dollars hidden in a sunglasses case inside an old toolbox left by the restaurant's previous owner. Yiengjuntuek found the money while cleaning out discarded tools remaining from the business purchase. After realizing the funds belonged to the previous owner, he attempted to contact him using a stored phone number, but the line was disconnected. Seeking help to locate the man, Yiengjuntuek contacted the local WMBF television station, an NBC affiliate. During a live interview on the TODAY show, he continued his efforts to track down the former owner. While on air, he recalled having another stored number for the individual under a different name. He proceeded to use this information during the live broadcast to establish contact and return the funds. The incident concluded with the successful identification and outreach to the rightful owner.
