Annual national memorial service for fallen armored corps members held in Kornos

The annual national memorial service for the fallen of the Armored Corps took place on Sunday afternoon at the Stavros Stylianides camp in Kornos, Cyprus. Organized by the Pancyprian Association of Reserve Armored Personnel in cooperation with the Ministry of Defence and the National Guard, the event honored those who died in past conflicts. The ceremony included a torch relay with a flame arriving from the Makedonitissa Tomb, featuring participants from the Reserve Armored Association and the Periklis Demetriou Running Club. Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Kyrenia conducted a memorial prayer for the fallen and a prayer for the determination of the fate of missing persons. Defense Minister Vasilis Palmas, who presided over the event, stated that 52 years have passed since the disappearance of some individuals. In his speech, the Minister reiterated that Cyprus seeks a solution to its national issue based on the United Nations framework, Security Council resolutions, and European Union values.
