Fatal car accident and fire reported in Thessaloniki

On the evening of the incident, a 30-year-old man died in a vehicle fire near the Egnatia Odos frontage road in Oraiokastro, Thessaloniki. According to police reports, the driver lost control of his vehicle under unknown circumstances and collided with a utility pole near the Oraiokastro toll station. The vehicle subsequently caught fire, and the driver was found deceased in a nearby field where the flames had spread. The Fire Department received notification shortly after 20:00 and dispatched units to contain the fire and recover the body. The Thessaloniki Traffic Sub-directorate is currently investigating the exact causes of the accident.
