Two men arrested in Nicosia following drug bust and vehicle pursuit
On the afternoon of the previous day, the Nicosia Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) conducted an operation involving two suspects aged 29 and 31. Officers initially attempted to stop a vehicle driven by the 29-year-old on the Alambra-Mosfiloti road, but the suspect collided with two police cars and fled the scene. He was later intercepted in the Marki area after switching to a vehicle driven by the 31-year-old, with the pair crashing into a police vehicle while attempting another escape. Authorities arrested the 29-year-old for assaulting police officers and the 31-year-old after discovering a knife in his car. Searches in the Alambra area uncovered 170 ecstasy pills, 40 grams of cocaine, and 400 grams of methamphetamine. A subsequent search of their residence led to the seizure of 4,150 euros in cash, a mobile phone, a tablet, and two drones. Both suspects are currently remanded in custody, facing charges related to drug possession, intent to supply, money laundering, and traffic offenses.
