New identity verification procedure for GeSY service center
The Health Insurance Organization of Cyprus has announced a new identity verification process for callers contacting the GeSY service center. Effective September 2026, this procedure will be mandatory for any requests involving personal data. Callers will be required to state their identity and the nature of their request. For inquiries involving personal information, the system will send a one-time password (OTP) to the mobile phone number registered in the user's GeSY profile. This code will be valid for five minutes and must be entered into the telephone system for verification. Following the OTP entry, a service officer will conduct an additional verification by requesting identifiers such as an ID number and date of birth. General inquiries that do not require access to personal data will continue to be handled directly by service staff without the OTP requirement. The organization urges beneficiaries to ensure their contact details, specifically their mobile phone numbers, are up to date in the system to avoid service interruptions.
