Fourth suspect remanded in custody following lethal arson attack in Thessaloniki

A 25-year-old man was remanded in custody on charges related to the July 1 deadly arson attack on the Nestor family home in Thessaloniki, which resulted in the death of Vagia Nestora. The suspect appeared before an investigating judge and denied all involvement, specifically refuting claims by a 24-year-old co-defendant who alleged the 25-year-old managed the keys to the apartment used by the perpetrators. With this decision, the number of individuals in pre-trial detention for the case has reached four, including the apartment owner and two suspected perpetrators aged 29 and 26. Following the court session, supporters of the 25-year-old staged a demonstration inside the Thessaloniki Courthouse. Police intervened to remove the protesters, leading to minor clashes that continued outside the building.
