Cypriot diaspora protests in London marking the 52nd anniversary of the Turkish invasion

Members of the Cypriot diaspora in the United Kingdom organized a peaceful protest outside the Turkish embassy in London to mark the 52nd anniversary of the Turkish invasion of Cyprus. The demonstration, led by the Famagusta Association of Great Britain, called for the withdrawal of Turkish troops from the island and the return of displaced individuals to their homes and properties. Association President Dr. Vasilis Mavrou stated that 37 percent of Cyprus remains under Turkish occupation, accusing Turkey of colonizing these areas and ignoring United Nations resolutions. Participants honored those killed in 1974, missing persons, and those who remained in the north following the island's division. The association demanded that the international community prioritize the Cyprus issue and push for a solution based on sovereignty and human rights. While one source indicated the protest occurred on Monday, another stated it took place on Friday. The organizers reaffirmed their ongoing commitment to campaigning for justice and the restoration of property rights for all refugees.
