ETEK reports increasing use of architectural competitions in Cyprus

Konstantinos Konstanti, President of the Cyprus Scientific and Technical Chamber (ETEK), stated that the institution of architectural competitions is gaining momentum in Cyprus. He argued that these competitions are the most suitable process for public and urban development projects to ensure quality, sustainability, and the public interest. ETEK supports this methodology to promote creativity and professional excellence. The organization highlights recent data as evidence of growing confidence in the institution. Specifically, there were 37 submissions for the Eurobank Day Care Center for People with Autism and 22 submissions for the Yeroskipou Municipality competition for the Michalis Pavlidis Sculpture Park. Additionally, 48 proposals are currently being evaluated for the Department of Town Planning and Housing project regarding affordable housing on state land. A new competition has also been announced for the construction of the new State Archives building. ETEK plans to continue promoting this model for future infrastructure projects.
