Speaker of the House meets with committee on Cypriot missing persons

Cypriot House Speaker Annita Demetriou met with a delegation from the Panhellenic Committee of Parents and Relatives of Undeclared Prisoners and Missing Persons of the Cypriot Tragedy. The delegation was led by the committee's president, Maria Kalbourtzi. During the meeting, Demetriou emphasized that determining the fate of the remaining missing persons remains an unfulfilled obligation to both the families and the country. She stated that remembrance events must serve as a reminder of the institutional responsibility to support the families involved. Demetriou argued that efforts to locate the missing must be intensified until every single case is resolved. She noted that while gradual progress is being made, the issue must remain a top political priority to ensure closure for the families. The Speaker stressed that the missing persons are individuals with families, not mere statistics. She concluded by calling for increased cooperation and political will to achieve a definitive resolution.
