AKEL party demands full disclosure of the Videogate criminal investigation report

The investigation examined video evidence featuring a former minister from the Anastasiades administration, who is an associate of President Nikos Christodoulidis, and the former Director of the Presidential Office. The video content includes allegations regarding the bypass of campaign financing laws, improper access to the Presidential Palace through financial contributions, and other ethical breaches. Investigator Pashalidis described these allegations as 'empty talk' and 'frivolous,' noting that the footage had been edited and raised questions about its evidentiary value. AKEL criticized the investigator's choice of language, arguing that characterizing the claims as 'empty talk' downplays institutional corruption. The party further accused the investigator of adopting political arguments previously used by the Presidential Palace to defend itself against the scandal. AKEL maintains that the report fails to address the substantive issues raised by the evidence and insists on full transparency to serve the public interest.
