Cypriot delegation departs for the 23rd Commonwealth Games in Glasgow

The Cypriot delegation has begun its departure from Larnaca Airport for the 23rd Commonwealth Games, scheduled to take place in Glasgow from July 23 to August 2. The team consists of 36 athletes, including 23 men and 13 women, who will compete in artistic gymnastics, swimming, para-powerlifting, weightlifting, track and field, and judo. The gymnastics team was the first to depart, led by athletes Marios Georgiou, Socrates Pilakouris, Neofytos Kyriakou, Giorgos Angonas, Kyriakos Markides, and Georgia Charalambous, accompanied by coaches Herodotos Giorgallas, Panagiotis Petridis, and Plamen Petrov, along with physiotherapist Misiel Issa. Chief of Mission Giannos Fotiou and Assistant Chief of Mission Giorgos Panagidis arrived in Glasgow on July 20 to coordinate final preparations. The opening ceremony is set for July 23, with the men's gymnastics team scheduled to compete on Friday morning. Georgia Charalambous is slated to perform on Saturday, while the swimming team is scheduled to depart on Tuesday.
