Cyprus national team places seventh at 48th World Sporting Championship
The 48th World Sporting Championship concluded in Ota, Lisbon, Portugal. The Cypriot national team, comprised of Iasonas Tziovani (169), Iakovos Onoufriou (168), Giannos Ioannou (166), and Andreas Vasileiou (163), finished in seventh place with a total of 666 points. The United States won the team gold with 722 points, followed by France with 713 points and Spain with 708 points. In the individual general classification, American Tom Seay secured the gold medal with 187/200. French shooter Bastien Havart took silver with 186/200 plus 21 in a tie-break against American Derrick Mein, who finished third with 186/200 plus 18. Additionally, around 30 individual shooters from Cyprus competed in the event. Among them, Ilias Ilias achieved the highest ranking for Cyprus, placing eighth in the Open category with a score of 181/200.
