His family announced his death on July 20, noting that he had been battling stage four cancer since his diagnosis last January. Keegan was surrounded by his wife and daughters during his final moments. Born on February 14, 1951, in Doncaster, he had a distinguished career, winning the Ballon d'Or twice in 1978 and 1979. He played nearly 750 club matches, notably for Liverpool, where he won three league titles, and Hamburg, later managing the England national team and Newcastle. He earned 63 caps for the English national team, serving as captain 31 times and scoring 21 goals. The family expressed gratitude to the medical team for their support throughout his illness.
