Power outages reported in Cyprus following technical fault at Dhekelia power station

On Tuesday morning at 6:50 am, a technical failure occurred at the Dhekelia power station, causing the loss of production unit ATS 4, which was generating 51 megawatts. This failure triggered an automatic load shedding process, resulting in power outages across various regions of Cyprus. The Transmission System Operator of Cyprus (TSM) has stated that continuous efforts are being made to restore electricity as quickly as possible. Separately, the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) had announced scheduled maintenance outages for specific areas in Nicosia, Larnaca, and Paphos throughout the day. Additionally, the EAC reported unrelated network faults in Dali, Ergates, and Klirou. Furthermore, a separate power outage occurred on Monday night in Engomi, Nicosia, due to a medium voltage network fault, with restoration efforts ongoing late that evening.
